Waitangi Treaty Grounds

Waitangi Treaty Grounds is a place of historical significance in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Their website was tired, outdated and in need of a refresh. Working in a close knit team we crafted a website that was fit for purpose: a tool to attract visitors on the global market once New Zealand reopened its borders post Covid-19 lock-downs and a website that successfully conveys the story of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

Gradient hues reflect the colour palette of the local whenua / land and the ever evolving relationship between the people, iwi’s and the crown. Illustration and photography were crafted by a local practitioners, woven into the fabric of the site to reflect the land / whenua and it’s people / tangata. Strong typography and map line work offset the imagery, illustration and the gradient throughout the site, uniting the concept bringing tangata/people and whenua/land together.
