Roimata Food Commons
Roimata Food Commons is a not for profit community garden based in Woolston, Otautahi, Christchurch. I was approached by Micheal from Roimata, they needed a new brand identity to elevate their brand within the community and be the face of their grant applications. Across multiple conversations, participation in workshops and local community events, I gained a thorough understanding of what Roimata has to offer, their ethos and approach to the community and it’s well-being.
A considered circular form lays the foundation of this identity creating a contemporary brand for Roimata Food Commons. Two arms reach out from minimalist figures embracing and uniting the Roimata community, connecting people, place and whenua. Roimata protects and cares for the environment while nurturing the community through outreach and education. Gardening is a seasonal practice; the brand mark subtly references the koru symbol conveying growth, life and new beginnings.
This brand mark successfully conveys themes of strength, leadership, guardianship.
